<hi style=afpcap>The first Boeing bomber design was a private venture which achieved a production run of just seven aircraft. The aircraft was conceived as the Model 200 Monomail constructed entirely of metal and with a retractable undercarriage for the civilian market. The bomber version was a proposed in 1930 with the designation XB-901, although the prototype became the YB-9. Five service test aircraft were constructed as Y1B-9A, while the second prototype was delivered as the Y1B-9. Despite being a revolutionary design, the type did not see serious production as the Army favoured the Martin B-10. </hi>
